Google has announced that it is shutting down it’s 3D Virtual World service known simply as Lively. Apparrently it just hasn’t taken off quite like they thought it would, and they want to refocus their time and effort on their core search, ads and apps business.
I logged into Lively a couple of times to see what it was all about, but I personally never could really get into it. I imagine a lot of people felt the same way I do, but at the same time I know there are a lot of people out there that really enjoy using the service. Nevertheless, Google will flip the switch at the end of the year, and they are encouraging users to take screenshots and videos of their creations.
